6 Reasons You Should Trade Your Apartment In For A House
Even though you love your apartment, have you ever considered the idea of shopping around for a house?
Maybe you’re entering a new phase of your life that requires more space for a spouse, kids, and pets. Or maybe you’ve grown tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and long for something more peaceful and secluded. Either way, here are 6 reasons for you get excited about the idea of trading in your apartment for a house.
1. It’s Easier For Pets
If you’re an animal lover, especially of bigger pets like Greyhounds and German Sheppards, you’ve probably been frustrated to learn that your apartment building won’t allow animals of a certain size or breed to occupy the building. If you have a regulatory sized pet, you’d probably like to move into a home with a yard for them to play around in some day.
Another frustrating thing you’ve probably grown tired of is having to take an elevator to let your dog go out to use the washroom & not to mention trying to find appropriate green space for them to do their business in. When you trade in your apartment for a house, you’ll never have to hold your breath again hoping your dog can hold in its business in-between waiting for the elevator and a peaceful patch of grass.
2. More Privacy
Pets aside, you’ve got to admit that sometimes you just want to be able to look a mess in PEACE. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to wear your pajamas all day, not brush your hair or put on makeup when you sit out in your backyard or go grab the mail. When you live in a house you’ve got all the privacy in the world to look as disheveled as you want, but if you live in an apartment it can be more difficult given that your neighbors are in your face 24/7.
3. Less Small Talk
If you hate small talk even half as much as I do, then this can be one of the worst parts of having neighbors who live in the same building as you. You may have to awkwardly say hello and ask about the weather almost anywhere, whether you’re waiting for an elevator, going to the concierge desk to pick up a package, barbecuing, swimming, or even working out in the building gym.
The possibilities are endless.
4. No More Condo Fees!
Condo fees are a brutal part of living in an apartment (if you own your place)! Just think of what you can do with the extra couple hundred dollars you’ll be able to save when you get a house.
5. More Storage Space
You’ve got to be quite creative when it comes to finding storage space in your apartment. Many condo dwellers turn to dual purpose furniture that allows them to create more storage space for themselves while simultaneously decorating their place. Aren’t you looking forward to the day when you don’t have to choose between style and functionality?
6. Free Parking
No more choosing between a place to live and a car! You can have your friends and family over for a barbecue and not have to feel guilty about the fact that they’ll have to pay $20 to park outside your place! You don’t have to make a thousand trips from your car to the elevator to your condo and back again when you make a grocery haul!
