How Piper Saved My Dad’s Life

We absolutely love reading all the comments you leave around the web about your experiences using Piper.

No two experiences are ever alike, and it’s just so amazing to see the endless amounts of ways customers use our security system to protect their homes.

We recently received a heartwarming Piper story from a customer who’d prefer to stay anonymous due to the sensitive nature of their experience. They write:

I purchased my first Piper years ago when my dad started to fade. I had hired home care for the daytime hours and I wanted to keep an eye on them, It was easy to install and incredibly helpful at the time. As he continued to age I had to add more hours to his care some of which extended to evening and I was happy to find they had added a night vision product. I purchased an nv camera. Easy to setup and the view is crisp in the darkest room. But he was still alone at night so I added a 3rd camera(night vision) for his room, It was so easy to keep watch over him now without having to leave my home every evening. He is now 101 and last November he took a fall when he was alone bur luckily I had the Piper set up to alert me and I was there in minutes to take care of him. Without the Piper he would have been down all night. And even though I’m over there every night now it’s easy watch and to see that he makes it back to his bed safely and isn’t wandering around without my having to get up whenever he does.. All of this and no fee. I’m very happy with the product and highly recommend it.

It just goes to show that smart home security systems are so much more than burglar deterrents and alarms. You can absolutely use Piper to help keep an eye on your ageing loved ones, and any other vulnerable family members as well.

  1. Grace, do you know how they had Piper configured to alert when the dad fell? Was it set to notify when there was movement after the dad was supposed to be in bed? Or was it monitoring for a loud noise and the dad cried out for help? Or was a z-wave device setup in an interesting way to detect this (like a door sensor that would separate during a fall or something)? A friend has been looking for solutions to get help when an aging parent falls, so I was curious for more specifics about how Piper was used in this situation. I love my Piper and always looking for new ways it can be used.
