IoT Goals: Ordering From The Internet Without Opening It
The IoT (Internet of Things) is one of the fastest growing industries on the planet. To help things speed up, I thought I’d start sharing the goals I’d love to see met in the space for
my own personal gain the good of humanity.
Though online shopping is pretty convenient, it hasn’t yet reached its full potential in terms of knocking down all the purchasing barriers we as consumers face.
One thing that really annoys me about shopping online is the fact that I have an unlimited amount of time to weigh the pros and cons of making my purchase. Everything from the item potentially not being what I imagine, to shipping costs and the idea of finding a better deal on another website is weighed carefully in my mind before I take the leap and click ‘buy’.
Hmmm….Does daddy really need another toolbox?
That’s why I’d love to see the IoT world come out with a way for consumers to be able to order things online without us actually having to browse the Internet ourselves.
I mean, think about it; wouldn’t it be nice to be able to order things before you direly need them? and to be able to order them without having all the time in the world to psych yourself out of making the purchase?
Produce, meats, cleaning fluids, clothes, cosmetics…the sky really is the limit here.
I’m imagining a world where I can just say, “I’m going to need another 3 lbs of purple seedless grapes by next Tuesday, and you’d better get me the best price possible, because there’s no way I’m paying over $4 for them!” and a smooth digital voice would assure me that I’d have my new order by that date.
No opening up the internet, typing in a search term, wondering which website would have it on sale for the best price…nothing.
I could simply complain about a problem & have the solution charged to my credit card with a 5-hour cancellation option (incase I spoke before checking my finances first 🙂 )
What are you hoping will be the next great innovation? Let’s talk in the comments below!
